About the Plaque at the Entrance to Ohio's Millennium Grove
At the entrance of Ohio's Millennium Grove, you will see a plaque affixed to a large stone. In the video below, Whitey Coates explains how the plaque was funded.
Notice that the plaque is not "straight" or parallel to the ground. The plaque was bonded to the stone in a place where it fit, without moving the stone's position. The idea was to defer to nature rather than to control it.
When the path was put in, the operator of the Bobcat offered to "straighten" the rock so the plaque could be made level. Whitey politely declined the offer.
